A rare chance to visit some of the most secret gardens in Northumberland on Sunday 27th June 2010

The owners of four fascinating private gardens have agreed to open them to the public in aid of five local churches.

The gardens are classics of their kind.

The Garden Cottage at Bolam Hall is described as a 'Gardeners Garden' and its style is modern, artistic and full of unusual plants. Please note this garden does not open until 2.30pm

Whalton Manor dates back to the 17th century and its three acres were designed and laid out by Sir Edward Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll.

Meldon Park is a magnificent John Dobson house dating back to 1832. The house is set in rolling park land and surrounded by mature woodland. The rhododendrons and azaleas will be at their best in June.

Stanton Fence is the most modern of the gardens. Designed by Arabella Lennox-Boyd from 1998- 2003 who, along with the owners, has created a contemporary garden which is now well established.

There will be plant and produce stalls at many of the gardens.

Your journey around the gardens.

The organisers of the day have set out to create a journey around the four gardens. Ideally we would like everyone to visit all of the gardens, however it is not a problem if you want to visit just one or two of them.

You can start and end your journey wherever you want as tickets are on sale at all the gardens.
